We offer a wide array of ministries from which our parishioners may choose to participate.
Eucharistic Ministry
A Eucharistic Minister serves the congregation at Communion by distributing the Body and Blood of Christ. If you are interested in contributing your services in this manner, please contact the office at 687-4031 for information and time of the next class.
Ministers to the Sick
Ministers to the Sick take Communion to the homes and/or hospitals of our parishioners who can not attend Mass due to illness or disability. A class helps you learn all you need to know to do this helpful ministry. Please call the office at 687-4031 to find how more or when the next class is scheduled.
Altar Servers
This is a helpful way for our youth to get involved with Ministry. Children are eligible as soon as they have made their First Communion. And may stay a Server as long as they want.
We also have a need for adult servers. Please call the office for more information at 687-4031.
Ushers
Men and women may serve as an usher at Mass. They assist our congregation during the Mass by opening doors, distributing bulletins, assisting the disabled, seating our parishioners and visitors, and collecting our offerings. Please call the office at 687-4031 if you would like to join this group.
Greeters
The importance of this job should not be forgotten. Greeters welcome both the parishioner as well as the visitor on their entrance into our church. They present our first impression as an open and friendly place in which to worship Our Lord. If you see yourself as a cheerful and congenial person, then this may be the ministry for you. More information can be learned by calling the office at 687-4031.
Donut Staffers
We not only gather together for the Mass, but again, after, in the Social Hall for coffee and donuts on Sunday morning. This is a time of meeting and greeting those with whom we worship at Mass. We need volunteers to help distribute the donuts and coffee. With enough help this is a once a month occasion for the volunteer. Check with the office for information if you think you could spare one Sunday morning a month. Call 687-4031.
Sacristans
We can't forget the importance of the Sacristans. They are entrusted with the setting up of the Altar for Mass, and setting out the bread and wine for the Offertory. If you think you would like to try out this responsibility, call the office at 687-4031. You will receive the training you need.
Choir
Parish Music Director: Tom Broedel
Phone: 352-687-0340
“The choir adds beauty and solemnity to the liturgy and also assists and encourages the singing of the congregation. The songs we sing during Mass are a form of prayer. Music is selected for each weekend to further enhance the readings and homily. The meditation song is a time to reflect on what we’ve heard in the message of the sermon and the recessional hymn is sung until the priest begins his personal greetings at the church door and to help take the Sunday teachings home with us.
“The choir is used at the Sunday 9:00 a.m. and the Saturday 4:00 p.m. Vigil Mass. We especially need singers at our 4:00 p.m. service, but you’re more than welcome to join us at either Mass. There is no audition, we do not use assigned seating, and family members are encouraged to sit and sing together.
“Our Youth Choir provides the music the first Sunday of each month in conjunction with the Religious Education students participating in the 9:00 a.m. Youth Mass. These precious angels gather every week near the choir area 15 minutes before the service begins and practice with our Youth Directors. Please encourage your children to join us.
”Choir practice is every Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church. Everyone is welcome. If you play a musical instrument of any type (especially keyboard) or have some other musical ability, we’d love to use your talent.
“A local Pastor once asked his parishioners for new choir members and someone said, ‘ I can’t sing, I sound like a frog.’ He replied, ‘ God gave you that voice, give it back to Him.’ The pastor was Father Steve Phillips and the someone was me. So, sing like an angel or sing like a frog, there is a place for you in the music ministry. See me after any Mass or call 687-0340 for more information.”
